My profile that I had on ecademy has grown like topsy, and I thought it time for a change. So, I have deleted my profile from there and posted a newer one.

The old profile is pasted here, and I shall place a link from the ecademy site to this page for anyone who wants to access the former information.

Over the last few weeks I have published well over 300 web sites giving examples of web site templates I have available. Links to these sites are available by clicking on this link. You may well ask, why would anyone want to publish 300 web sites for themselves? Well, I have three main reasons: (1) People who would like a low cost web site for their business or personal use can get one very quickly with one of my web site templates. Most of the "work" required in getting a web site published is in the design of the web site style. With my templates, this has already been done. It is simply a matter of adding your content to the template to quickly get your web site published to your own domain name. (2) "A picture is worth a thousand words" ...! It is a cliche, but very true. I have published 300 of my templates as working web sites, so clients can get a good idea of how their web site is going to look after making their choice. The content that I have on most of these sites is very limited at this stage, but I have published around four pages to each site, and I am sure you will get the idea of how the completed site may appear. All of the templates can of course be easily modified with logos, pictures and text. (3) The entire world is currently experiencing a severe economic crisis. The Aussie dollar almost had parity with the US$ around three months ago. Currently it is trading at around 67c US. This means that imports for Aussies currently are going to be much more expensive, but it is an ideal time for exports. Up until now I have mainly looked at my local market for web design and publishing work. My prices have always been very competitive. My prices in Australian dollars remain the same, but they have now become an absolute bargain for anyone overseas wanting a web site. A link to the page listing these sites is here. The same scenario of course applies to other products and services offered by Professional Performance Australia, including our self-packaged soft-skilling programs. Looking for a unique birthday gift? How about a Happy Birthday Web Site? Personal web site for that special person and that special day with 8 pages of information and birthday music. Further information here. Sample web site here. All of my contact details can be obtained by clicking on this link. I look forward to hearing from you.

Staying Connected

It seems that today almost everyone is constantly busy, regardless of their particular jobs. We often feel that we don't have time to reach out to loved ones, family, friends and colleagues. However, connecting with family and friends need not take a lot of effort. A very simple gesture can have considerable impact when it comes to showing someone that you really care.

Receiving a greeting card through the mail will nearly always invariably result in the release of endorphines "feel gooders" in the recipient. Making someone else feel special will make the sender feel good also.

Mutual Well-being

What is the cost of creating this mutual well-being? Well, in terms of time, effort and financial cost ..., practically nothing! Click on the Aussie Cards logo above for more information.

Dancing is a passion of mine. I have written a few Blogs regarding dance which you are welcome to read by just clicking on the "Blog" tab at the top of my profile. If you live in the Brisbane area, or if ever you visit and you enjoy dancing, then I will look forward to seeing you at an Aussie Dance. Just click on the banner above for more information. "DANCE" is very special.

Here are ten reasons why:

  • · Dance is physical. Regular dance will improve your cardio-vascular fitness
  • · Dance is social. Well, OK so is Cricket and Netball, but they usually involve socialising with members of the same gender.
  • · Dance involves physical contact. In what other activity is it socially acceptable for a guy or a gal to hold a member of the opposite sex and whirl around in time to music?
  • · Dance is cognitive. Have you heard the saying, "if you don't use it you will lose it"? Well, that saying applies to that grey matter up there in your cranium, as well as perhaps to some other of your anatomical features. With dance you will need to think about moves, sequences, signals, what you are doing, what your partner is doing, in addition to what the other dancers out there on the floor are doing. And ladies, men who have "danceability" prove beyond any doubt, that men are capable of doing more than one thing at a time.
  • · Dance has variety. There are many different genres of dance to choose from.
  • · Dance is a whole of life activity. Very young children can and should dance, and should keep dancing right up into old, old age. (Perhaps with a few changes of dance genres as the years progress) Compare this with other sports such as football, or hockey or whatever.
  • · Dance is fun. Dancing releases those "feel-gooders" in the brain called endorphins. Yes, by dancing you can get on a high without taking dangerous drugs.
  • · Dance relieves stress. Any physical exercise can help counter the distress caused to many of us from the pressures of modern living. Dance is right up there at or near the top of the list of these physical activities.
  • · Dance is for just about everyone. Some years ago I taught a class of young wheel-chair bound Spina Bifida students to Square Dance..., And, they loved it! I did have to make a few modifications to the dance of course, but it was well worth it. Now, I don't know what your personal situation is as reader of this article. But, I reckon it would be a fairly safe bet that 99.9% of you are more able to dance than those ten and eleven year olds in wheel chairs, who were wheeling their chairs around each other to "She'll be coming around the Mountain".
  • · Dance is good for for your physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual health. Yep! That is a pretty broad statement to make, but it is true. And, the more that you dance and read about dance, the more likely you are to accept that it is true.

How does that saying go, "all work and no play makes ..."? Life is all about laughing, living, learning and loving. And, I belive that the "laughter" is just as important as the other "l's". I have published a web site called Bumper with hundreds of fun vinyl stickers. It is being added to every week. Take a look and I am sure you will have a laugh.

On the more serious side, Professional Performance Australia has a web site with hundreds of inspirational quotes. All of these quotes are available for purchase as vinyl stickers.

Labels

I have had a diverse working career. For much of the early part of it I was involved as a teacher and educational administrator. I have worked as the Executive Director of a large Youth and Community service organisation. I have been Projects Director for Divisions of General Practice, and Exercise Physiologist in Cardiac Rehabilitation programs. I have had many other roles in addition. I don't believe I have ever had a job which I have not enjoyed. Sure, all work can at times be repetitive and boring, but overall, I have always enjoyed my work. Having said that, I don't have any strong desire to go back and perform the work I have done in the past. There are many new things that I have not yet done that I would like to do. (Some of these things I don't even know about as yet!) This brings me to another point which I have used as a heading for this section, "Labels". I have always objected to being given labels such as "Ian's a teacher", or "Ian is an Exercise Physiologist", and even worse, "Ian is an Academic". All of us have many skills, abilities and areas of expertise. As soon as one is given a label such as "teacher", people immediately begin to categorise you and put you in the same pigeon hole as all the other teachers that they know. Just on that one label alone for example, I would much prefer that people be told that "Ian is a great facilitator of learning". To get along in the 21st Century, we do need to be multi-skilled. And, if we are going to categorise then I do like to think that I fall into that category. But I see multi-skilling very different from multi-tasking. I do know of people who proudly claim that they can do several tasks at the one time. I have no ambition to be able to do that. I know that if I tried to, that none of the tasks would be completed anywhere near as satisfactorily. And, I believe that the same is true for others who multi-task. I enjoy having many different jobs or roles, but I do prefer to concentrate on just one at any particular time, and hopefully perform that job much better.

Multi-skilling vs Multi-tasking

Photography

Photography is another passion of mine. (food is also, but I will not go into that right now!) I have a site called Let Me Shoot You and another portfolio on RedBubble for which I have a link below.

Articles

All of us are passionate about something or somethings. Or at least I hope we all are, because if anyone isn't then that person is not really living. Why don't you share your passions with others by writing articles about those passions, or business interests, hobbies or ideas or whatever? Publishing articles on the World Wide Web can have many other advantages also in addition to sharing your thoughts in writing with others. You retain copyright of the article that you write. By publishing your article on an article site you give permission for others to not only read your article, but to copy it on their web sites or blog sites, if they so wish. However, they do need to acknowledge you as the author and copyright owner and publish the link to your web site which you will have at the end of your article. They also need to acknowledge the source of the article. That is the web site from where they obtained it. I own three article directory sites. They are:

Aussie Articles

Education Articles

High Ranking Articles

You are welcome to submit articles to be published on any or all of these sites. Another advantage of having an article published on one of my sites is that there is a "tool" at the top of each page of the site which can instantly translate your article, or anyone else's article, into eight different languages. The three sites between them have well over 100,000 pages of articles (September, 2008), and this number is growing rapidly each day. I don't want to bore you with statistics, but I have just done a few sums which I find quite mind boggling. I have published the results of those calculations in smaller type, so if you want to skip over it, just ignore what's printed in the smaller type below.

Each of those articles can be downloaded onto other people's web sites or blog sites. Those people do of course have to acknowledge where the article came from and its author. I just did a check and those 100,000 articles have been downloaded onto other people's sites around 700,000 times. Now that is an average of about seven downloads per article. It does not take into account how many times each article on the site has been read. Some articles for example have been read hundreds of times, others just twenty to thirty. I do have a counter on each article to show how many times it has been opened and I presume read. I have not done a tally, nor do I intend doing a tally of the total number of reads, but I reckon a fair estimate would be say fifty average per article. It is probably reasonable to assume that each of the downloads may attract an average of fifty readers also. I just did those sums, and that comes to forty million reads on the articles. If each of those articles which were read were hard copies, that would be forty million sheets of paper, which would require several semitrailers to carry. But, the web sites allow each of those articles to be quickly translated into eight different languages also ...! What do you think the numbers may be like in a few years time? And, this is all from a few sites that I put together a couple of years ago, with the information all stored electronically.

Business Networking

Ecademy is my favourite business networking site. However, a successful online marketing strategy will generally require positioning yourself on multiple business networking sites. There are many other good networking sites available, and several of these I have joined as you can see from the above links. I would like to give you an analogy between "food" and "business networking". Food is one of my passions in life. Fortunately, eating because I am hungry is not one of my most important reasons for eating. Probably the most important is enjoyment. Of course enjoyment of food can lead to potential problems, and there needs to be a balance of other life-style factors such as regular exercise. I have my favourite meals, and I also have my favourite restaurants. But, I also enjoy "new" dishes and visting restaurants which I have not in the past visited. So, what has "food" got to do with "business networking sites"? Well, we eat for a variety of reasons. An important one for me as I have mentioned is "enjoyment". Another important reason is the "social aspect" of eating. I would suggest that these are also two of the reasons that many of us are here on the ecademy site. Other reasons for being here are: increasing our contacts both locally and internationally, developing quality contacts and friendships, and working synergistically with each other for mutual benefit. All of these things can be done, and are being done effectively here on ecademy. But, just like visitng new restaurants increases our gastronomic experience, linking up on new networking sites increases our business exposure and potential future success. I don't like "reinventing the wheel". I do like to draw on the accumulated wisdom and knowledge of others. I am also happy to share with others the results of research that I have completed. I have decided therefore to publish the results of my finding of this and some other areas on a web site called Ian's Sites. I plan on adding a FORUM page to the site soon and look forward to receiving your comments.

Pets Pics is my latest photography related project. If you are a photographer, please go to the site and register. If you love pets, (and don't we all?), you will be sure to find products on which you could have pictures of your pets that you will treasure..
